Preventing Child Injuries in Auto Accidents

Maryland's new child safety seat law takes effect June 30, 2008. Now all children under eight years old must be restrained in a federally approved child safety seat unless the child is taller than four feet, nine inches or the child weighs more than 65 pounds.

Violating this law leads to a $48.00 ticket, but that is a miniscule loss compared to the serious injury or death of a child from not being properly restrained.
